Hello and a very warm welcome to Bark & Bowl!

My name is Rebekah Rossi, a qualified canine nutrition consultant specialising in skin issues, gastrointestinal problems, and all things commonly diagnosed as 'allergies'.

I take a compassionate and scientific approach to helping pet owners and their dogs to find the nutrition solutions that work best for them. I am committed to helping dogs and their owners to live healthier and happier lives together. 

Like many in this field I was inspired to learn more about canine nutrition by my own dog, Hugo, and his health problems. I have seen first-hand the incredible healing effects that the right food can have on a dog's wellbeing. 

As an owner of a dog with chronic health issues, I've been in your shoes, and I know how powerless it can make you feel. I really do understand how demoralising and heartbreaking it is to see your dog suffer.

I have dedicated the past few years to researching and studying canine welfare and nutrition, leading to the launch of Bark & Bowl Canine Nutrition in 2023.

Hugo is my cheeky French Bulldog and the inspiration behind Bark & Bowl. 

Hugo became very itchy after he was neutered at six months old, quickly followed by a bout of aspiration pneumonia. From then on, he was constantly itchy and uncomfortable. He was quickly diagnosed with atopic dermatitis.

Hugo would scratch himself raw and to the point of bleeding. He lost all of the hair around his ears and on his chest. His armpits were so sore and full of scabs. He was prescribed various antibiotics, creams, foods, injections and even steroids, but nothing worked long term.

I started to research how I could help him, and stumbled upon fresh feeding. Intrigued and hopeful, we started feeding Hugo a raw diet. After a lot of trial and error, and an eventual move to cooked food, we found that this new diet greatly reduced Hugo's itching and improved not only his skin and coat condition but his overall health. 

Hugo still has flare ups from time to time but we know how to handle them and get things quickly back on track. We have even been able to introduce many foods back into his diet that he would never have tolerated previously. You can see some of his before and after photos below. 

There are so many dogs like Hugo out there, and I truly believe that the right nutrition can make a world of difference.
